LAKE ST. LOUIS MISSOURI Hosting an outstanding field of hunters and jumpers, the Equine Productions Winter Series has been action packed. In addition to offering a full array of hunter and jumper classes for exhibitors, the winter series also has provided a variety of entertaining and exciting events. Plus, with temperature-controlled barns, warm-up and show rings, the National Equestrian Center provides a wonderful winter venue.

One of the series highlights was the USHJA $10,000 High Performance Hunter Classic held in December. Twenty-five professional, amateur and junior riders competed over a beautifully designed course with obstacles resembling those found in the hunt field. The courses offered 3’6, 3’9 and 4’0 options at many fences, as well as options such as a bank in the center of the ring and realistic gates. Tammy Provost piloted a first-year horse, Daquiri, to the top slot in the hotly contested class. The team of Brenda Mueller and That’ll Do took home the second place prize. USHJA High Performance Class committee members Diane Carney and Carl Weeden both were on hand for the big event.

Everyone also enjoyed a special performance by Circus Flora acrobats atop their trusty equine partners. The artists even coaxed some of the exhibitors to help with demonstrations, who then experienced riding from a whole new perspective
The 2007 $35,000 Grand Prix Challenge Series wrapped up in December Winning the series for the second year in a row, Wilhelm Genn went home $35,000 richer Tommy McIntyre handed Wilhelm a $25,000 check for the leading rider bonus, plus a second check for $10,000 as the owner of Chantal, the horse with the most points. |
